License Messages Explained

Paid parts show a lock overlay when they cannot render. Free Forever parts use a smaller set of the same ideas. This page lists the customer-visible messages and what to do.

Blocked-state overlays (paid parts)

The overlay sits over the part's normal content, which stays underneath, blurred and inert. It shows a lock, a title, a message, one action button, and a product-specific footnote. SharePoint content is not deleted.

The Edit the web part… instruction is shown to the subscription owner. Everyone else sees a message that names the subscription owner and a Contact owner button. The owner's email never appears on the canvas.

Overlay footnotes

These footnotes remind you that SharePoint content is untouched:

  • Carousel: "Carousel content remains stored in SharePoint and is unaffected."
  • Zenpo Mosaic — Masonry Gallery & Cards: "Gallery content remains stored in SharePoint and is unaffected."
  • Mini Calendar: "Calendar events remain stored in SharePoint and are unaffected."
  • Full Calendar: "Your events remain stored in your SharePoint lists and are unaffected."
  • People Directory: "Directory content remains stored in SharePoint and are unaffected."
  • Resources Library: "Your resources remain stored in SharePoint and are unaffected."
  • Side Navigation: "Your navigation links remain stored in your SharePoint list and are unaffected."

Non-blocking notices (paid parts only)

Grace banner (title Subscription expired, dismissible, auto-hides after 30 seconds):

  • Owner: "Your organization's Zenpo subscription has expired. Everything keeps working for {N} more day(s) — renew now to avoid any interruption." Button Renew Subscription.
  • Everyone else: "Your organization's Zenpo subscription has expired. Everything keeps working for {N} more day(s) while the subscription owner renews." No button.

The banner counts down to "1 more day(s)" and never shows "0".

Trial ending soon (when the trial is within 7 days): "Your trial expires in {N} day(s). Edit the web part to purchase a subscription." No button.

Pilot Plan badge: a persistent Pilot Plan chip above the content. It is not dismissible.

Cached license during an outage

If the licensing service is unreachable and a license was previously cached, the part keeps full access from cache. There is no banner and no seat re-check. That is fault tolerance, not a grace period.

If nothing is cached, first-time users see Unable to reach licensing server.

Free Forever wording

Free Forever parts never show trial, grace, Pilot, or seat banners. Their blocked states are:

  • One-time setup when never registered. Edit-mode button Get started.
  • Unable to reach licensing server: "We couldn't complete the one-time setup because our licensing server is unreachable from your network. This is sometimes caused by network restrictions in secure environments. Please contact us and we'll help you get set up." Link Contact us to get started.
