How Calendar Time Zones and All-Day Events Work
The SharePoint site's time zone defines what the author meant. SharePoint stores that. The viewer's own time zone defines where a timed event renders.
This rule applies to both Zenpo Full Calendar and Zenpo Mini Calendar (Intranet Suite).
Timed events
Each viewer sees timed events at their own local clock time.
An event authored as 9:00 AM in a site set to Eastern Time:
| Viewer's location | What they see |
|---|---|
| Eastern Time | 9:00 am, same day |
| Los Angeles | 6:00 am, same day |
| London | 2:00 pm, same day |
| Shanghai | 9:00 pm, same day |
A 5:00 PM Eastern event seen from Shanghai renders at 5:00 am the following day, on that following day in the grid. It is genuinely that moment in Shanghai.
All-day events do not shift
An all-day event on 7 August is 7 August for every viewer in every time zone. It is treated as a calendar date, not as a moment in time.
All-day events come from classic Calendar lists only. An ordinary list has no all-day concept. See Calendar Sources: Classic Calendar Lists vs Ordinary Lists.
Multi-day events
Multi-day events render as a continuous bar across the days they cover in Month view, and as a pill in the all-day lane in Week view.
