Intranet Footer FAQ and Troubleshooting
Answers for the authored footer band: how many links it holds, where content is stored, canvas width, SharePoint's own footer, empty pages, and the tagline.
How many links can the footer hold?
Up to four link columns, each with a heading and up to six links. The pane says so at the caps: "A footer reads best at up to four columns — that's the limit." and "Up to six links per column — split a longer list across two columns."
Where is the footer content stored?
In the web part on that page. No list is created and nothing is stored elsewhere, so you add the web part to each page that should carry the footer.
Does the footer run edge to edge across the page?
No. The band is canvas-width. It follows the page's normal content area rather than bleeding to the browser edges.
Should I use this or SharePoint's own site footer?
Either. SharePoint's footer (Change the look → Footer) is a site setting that appears on every page of that site, is full width, and does not exist on team sites. The Zenpo band gives you link columns, a tagline, and a copyright line, and works on communication and team sites alike.
If you enable both, you get two footers. Zenpo does not detect or warn about that.
Why is nothing showing on the published page?
Nothing has been filled in yet. A column with no heading or no finished links is skipped, and a link missing either its text or its address is skipped, so you can draft freely. With nothing configured, readers see nothing at all while editors see Nothing to show yet.
What does the tagline say, and can I turn it off?
It reads Part of the {organization} intranet using the Organization name you set. Only the name is stored. The sentence follows the page's language. It appears only when an organization name is set, and Show the intranet tagline turns it off.
