Set Up and Configure Birthdays and Anniversaries

Add Zenpo Birthdays and Anniversaries to a modern SharePoint page and bind a People list. The property pane groups are License, Data, Data — celebration dates, Content mapping, Behavior, and Appearance (web part only).

There is no starter list. Use a list you already have. Shared list, view, and cache rules are on How Zenpo Web Parts Use Your SharePoint Data.

Connect the People list

  1. Edit the page and select the web part.
  2. Open the property pane.
  3. Under Data, set People list.
  4. Choose a View.
  5. Set Cache duration if you want a value other than the default 5 minutes (recommended).

Heading defaults to Celebrations.

Choose where dates come from

Under Data — celebration dates, set Dates come from:

  • The People list (recommended) (default): map Birthday (optional) and Hire date (optional) on the People list. The pane note is Map either date, or both. A person appears only when the mapped date contains a value.
  • A separate dates list: bind a second list and join it to the People list.

Join rules, Feb 29 handling, and years-of-service math are on Connect Celebration Dates: People List or a Separate Dates List.

Map name and optional fields

Under Content mapping:

  1. Map Name.
  2. Open ▸ More fields to map Photo (optional), Email (optional), and External marker (optional).

Unbound optional roles render nothing. Send wishes and Chat do not appear unless Email is mapped and that person has an email value.

Set lookahead and celebration behavior

Under Behavior:

  • Lookahead: 7 days, 14 days (default), or 31 days. The window includes today and the last day. It wraps month and year boundaries. A 4 January birthday appears in a late-December window.
  • Include external people: default off
  • Collapse when nothing within the window: default off. When it is on and the window is empty, the card folds to one line: {heading} — nothing in the next {N} days.
  • Milestone badges: default on. Badges appear at 1 year and every 5th year (1 YEAR, 15 YEARS). An anniversary renders only when years of service are greater than 0.
  • Confetti for today's celebrations: default on. The pane note is Confetti fires once per user per day for today's celebrations — never blocking, no sound, absent under reduced-motion.

Results group into Today (prominent cards), This week (days 1–6), and This month (7+). Empty groups do not render. Within a day, birthdays sort before anniversaries, then by name. Nearest day is first.

Set appearance

Under Appearance (web part only):

  • Color vibe and Accent color (six colors)
  • Corner radius (default 6)

Shared vibe and accent options are on Appearance Settings: Color Vibe, Accent Color, and Corner Radius.

Author diagnostics

While this instance's property pane is open in edit mode, a {N} not shown chip can appear. It opens a Not shown in celebrations callout. Categories:

  • External people excluded: By design (turn on Include external people to celebrate them too)
  • Orphaned join rows: Needs attention
  • Rows missing data: Needs attention

The callout shows identifying names, keys, or IDs (up to 5). The product states Only you see this while editing — it never appears on the published page.

Empty window

When nothing falls in the lookahead, the empty state is A quiet stretch / No birthdays or anniversaries in the next {N} days. Widen the lookahead in the pane, or enjoy the calm.
